The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has commenced payment of N77,000 monthly allowance to Corp Members, Platforms Africa reports.

Quoting some members of the scheme, this reputable media group maintained that alert of the payments has been received by some corps members while others are expectant of their payment.

Another serving Corp member in Akwa-Ibom, who pleaded anonymity also confirmed the new payment to our correspondent.

“March Allawee is special. They have paid N77k as promised,” she said.

This is coming barely a week after the NYSC DG, Brig. Gen. Olakunle Nafiu assured Corp members of the commencement this month.

Nafiu gave the assurance while interacting with Corps Members in Wuse and Garki NYSC Zonal Offices of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) last week Thursday.
He had maintained that the Scheme and Federal Government are responsive to their welfare and would continue to ensure that their well-being is accorded maximum priority at all times.

“With effect from March, you are going to receive the sum of Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira as your monthly allowance.
NYSC is good at record keeping and l can assure you that your money will be paid. The Nation and the Scheme appreciate you”, he said.
